We started our day by getting the bus from CBC at about 9 0' clock in the morning. We arrived in Glendalough at about 10 0' clock. We had a quick talk about the walk we were going to do.
We then started our walk. We walked part of the Wiclow Way. We walked through forest areas, up big hills and on the top mountains where the views were great. We had a few quick stops to keep the group together but, apart from that. we walked for about 3 hours. It was tough but most people really enjoyed it. We then stopped to have lunch for a while.
Lunch lasted for about an hour and then the group split up. Some of the group went for a run and the other group went for another hike. We then started the run where we ran through the river and went for a swim and then ran more until we met the buses. The people who went for another hike went up around the mountains where they walked another part of the wiclow way.
The walkers and the runners got back to the buses at about the same time. We waited on the bus for a very very long time as a couple of the walkers got lost and took quite a long time to get back to the bus. We left at about ten past three. We got back to the school just after four o clock. It was a tiring and tough walk but I think most people enjoyed it and I hope we get more trips like this again.
We travelled by bus, but first we briefly stopped at a shop where the teachers thoughtfully bought fruit for our lunch later that day. After that short stop we were underway, the journey took roughly about forty minutes until the bus reached Glendalough. We walked through a forest for a while, but then we reached the trail of the Wicklow Way. Once we were on the trail the group became stretched between three groups, theses consisted of the eager people that wanted to lead the way, the slow people that lagged behind, and the group in between.
The scenery along the trail was lovely; it seemed as if nature was enjoying the last of the summer sun. Birds were chirping happily as they began hunting their prey to prepare for the harsh winter that lies ahead, the flowers were a vast array of colours and let off a summery scent.
At a junction we decided to stop to have lunch. We sat by the side of the road and took in the surrounding scenery. When we continued we reached an area with drinking water available. We filled our beakers with fresh water which was very refreshing on the hot day like it was and continued on.
Eventually we reached the buses and everyone was relieved to be going home. We soon realised that some people had got lost in the forest. We waited for a while to see if they found their way to the buses but there was no sign of them. Several minutes later Mr Corcoran arrived with the missing students and everyone was happy that they were okay. On the bus journey home everyone was tired, most people talked about the events of the day while others fell into a sleepy haze.
